Montville U Moodle Course
This is the introductory page to your course. During the following weeks we will actually use a course
I created in Moodle.  You probably won’t come back to this page very often. Most, if not all of the material
will be found in the Intro to Moodle course located on, you guessed it, moodle.montvilleschools.org.
By participating in the Intro to Moodle course you will learn what a student will see and experience while he/she is
logged into the server (a server is just fancy talk for a computer that stores and distributes information on
the Internet). No worries though.  One of the goals of this course is to get you up and running with a course that
YOU will create in Moodle.   I’ll be around to help as much as possible.  Don’t be afraid to e-mail me or stop
by the Tech Ed room at the high school to discuss things.  Moodle is an on-line environment so you can use it on any
computer with Internet access.  That means I can help you from my computer, no need to lug your computer to my
room and hook it up for help.  Speaking of help, I plan on being here for help Tuesday, January 26th from
2:00-5:30 pm in the Tech Ed room at the high school.  I’ll also be around for another time later in February.
And now a word or two from our sponsor....
People ask me if Moodle is appropriate for their classes. My answer, YES!  It’s appropriate for any grade you teach.
As you will discover, there are so many different things you can do in Moodle that you will certainly find some uses
for Moodle in your classes.  Don’t think that Moodle is just limited to students.  As a teacher or librarian, you can create
a “course.”  A “course” is just a generic term. The course can be anything you want it to be.  It could just be a repository
of information, dittos, worksheets, units, articles, lesson plans, and even books that you want to share with your class,
parents or just fellow teachers.  Don’t be afraid to be experiment with courses while learning about Moodle.
You’re not going to break the Internet.  Any course you create can be easily erased.  Once you get used to all of the
buttons you will be amazed at how organized and easy created a course can be.
On the next few pages I’m going to convince you that this will be worth all your time and effort.
I’ll also review some basics on how you will go about completing this course.  So go ahead and
click on the forward button.
